Yeah that was a really intersting wiki -   to note that the first line of the trestle/tressel detailed entry is "A trestle bridge is a bridge composed of a number of short spans supported by closely spaced frames /*usually carrying a railroad line. " */ italics mine :-)

It's possible that trestle is a more specific type of bridge, but I've usually 
heard the term used in conjunction with trains.  It could just be that that's 
how they were constructed at home
